Local Vets Honored As Veterans Of The Month

LITTLE FALLS -- The Minnesota Military Museum is honoring two veterans from the area this month.

Merl Fletcher of Randall and Ken Buettner of Avon are the museum's featured Veterans of the Month.

Fletcher, who passed away in 2012, graduated from high school in Browerville in 1965 and went on to serve in the Artillery Branch of the U.S. Army in the United States and Germany.

Buettner, who passed in 2011, served in the Marine Corps and later with the Army Reserves as a member of the 205th Infantry Brigade.

Buettner also became a full-time Army Reserve recruiter in the 1980s.

The public is invited to the exhibit on Fletcher and Buettner at the Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley.

Museum hours are Thursday and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
