CLEAR LAKE - A short but sweet strawberry season is upon Central Minnesota.

Grayson's Berryland in Clear Lake offers a great opportunity for you to get out of the house, pick some strawberries and spend time with some friends and family.

Paul Gray is the co-owner of Grayson's Berryland. He says the berry season in Central Minnesota is determined by the weather.

"They are June berries. Mother nature will determine what time of June you open up. This year was the middle of the month, a few years ago it was the beginning of the month."

Even though the season is very limited Co-owner Gary Gray says Minnesota strawberries simply beat the competition.

"Differences are in taste and texture. A California berry is going to be completely white inside, while a Minnesota berry is completely red through. Flavor quality is much better. They don't last as long, you got to pick them and use them quickly, but there is no comparison and the people here know that."

Grayson's Berryland provides containers for people who want to pick their own strawberries. They also have an option where they pick berries and you can just pick them up at the front counter.

The farm is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. until noon.
