The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Joseph Gerads, age 87 of Albany, will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 28 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church near Albany, MN. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Joe died Sunday at the Melrose Hospital. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM, Friday and again after 9:30 AM, Saturday, at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Albany. St. Anthony parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home in Albany.

Joe was born March 10, 1930 in Krain Township to Charles and Loretta (Harren) Gerads. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1952, during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and he returned to farming. He married Angeline Panek on October 19, 1959 in Holdingford. The couple farmed together on their farm 3 miles east of St. Anthony. Joe was an avid John Deere enthusiast and he enjoyed playing cards and going to auctions. He had served on the Krain Township board and the Krain Township-Two Rivers Watershed board. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his wife, Angie, St. Anthony; his children, Joseph Gerads Jr., Greenwald; Ralph Gerads, Albany and Laura (David) Doeden, Holdingford. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and his brothers and sisters; Norbert Gerads, Albany; Frank (Doreen) Gerads, Freeport; Herbie Gerads, Freeport; Gilbert (Carol) Gerads, Freeport; Jake (Judy) Gerads, Freeport, Magdeline "Toots" Schwanke, Waite Park; Betty (Al) Bechtold, Sauk Rapids; Loretta (Herbie) Thull, Melrose; Dolores Lynn, Waite Park; Sr. Marie Gerads O.S.B., St. Cloud; and Bertha (Ambie) Herdering, Upsala.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bernard Gerads and four young siblings.
