GRAND MEADOWS (AP) - A Mower County farm is among mink ranches apparently raided by animal rights activists in a number of states.

Owner Einar Myhre says hundreds of mink were released at his farm near Grand Meadows in the middle of the night early Monday or late Sunday. Employees, fellow farmers and friends helped Myhre round up the majority of the animals. Myhre says he was able to retrieve all but about 75 mink.

The Animal Liberation Frontline, a website that tracks the releases, claimed other raids have recently been carried out in 8 states, including Wisconsin. About 2,000 mink were released from a farm in Calumet County. The FBI and sheriff's deputies are investigating the raid Saturday at the Bonlander Furs farm in New Holstein.
