ST. CLOUD - Kids Fighting Hunger hosted a large food packing event Sunday afternoon at Rivers Edge Convention Center.

The volunteers packed and boxed meals for those in need all around the world.

Cathy Wogen is the Executive Director for Kids Fighting Hunger. She says a lot of people came out to pack thousands of meals.

"We will have around 600 people packaging around 140,000 meals today."

While there were a lot of volunteers at the event, Wogen says they couldn't do it without help before the packing even starts.

"Since it is out 5th event we are like a finely oiled machine. We partner with a lot of organizations to be that way. United Way handles all of our volunteer registration and my board of directors handles all of our behind the scenes (work)."

Kids Fighting Hunger offers groups of 10 or more the opportunity to volunteer throughout the year. To help pay for the food they ask for a $10 donation for kids and $20 for adults.

After you volunteer you are able to look at all the places the food you helped pack is going.

"You can go to our website....and we have a map with a little pin showing all the places we have shipped out food. We have been around for 14 years so we have shipped food a lot of places."

Over recent months, food has been going to Somalia and to help with hurricane relief.
