MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Golden Gophers picked up their 20th win of the season after skating to a 5-3 win over Michigan on Friday night.

The win also expands Minnesota's lead to seven points at the top of the Big Ten standings.

Justin Kloos started the scoring at 5:29 in the first period. Hudson Fasching would later give the Gophers a 2-0 lead at the start of the second period.

Michigan would strike back with a goal from Andrew Copp to make it 2-1. The Gophers would quickly rebound six seconds later with a Taylor Cammarata goal.

The Gophers would continue to build their lead to 4-1 near the end of the second with a power play goal from Seth Ambroz.

The Wolverines would get goals from JT Compher and Zach Hyman in the third to make it 5-3.

Minnesota is now 20-4-5 overall and 9-2-2 in the Big Ten. Michigan falls to 14-8-3 overall, and 6-4-1-1 in the Big Ten with the loss.

Both teams will face off again in the Mariucci Arena on Saturday night at 7:10 p.m.
