The Minnesota Timberwolves completed a trade today bringing the former face of the franchise, Kevin Garnett, back to where his career began.

Shortly before the 2:00 p.m. trade deadline today, the Timberwolves agreed to send forward Thaddeus Young to the Brooklyn Nets for Garnett, who dropped the no-trade clause in his contract to reunite with his former team.

The 38-year-old Garnett is in his 20th NBA season and is still considered to be a valuable defensive presence in the post.

Garnett reportedly has kept a close relationship with his former coach -- current Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders, who took over midway through Garnett's rookie season and continued to coach him until 2005.

Drafted fifth overall in 1995, Garnett spent his first 12 seasons with the Timberwolves. During that time, Garnett made 10 All Star teams and won the league MVP award in 2004 before being traded to Boston in 2007.

The trade amplifies months-long rumors regarding the possibility of Garnett becoming involved with ownership of the franchise.
