The fall harvest is over in much of Minnesota, but some producers are still hoping to finish out their harvesting and final fieldwork as weather conditions allow.
Many of Minnesota's farmers are getting an early start on spring planting, taking advantage of warm weather in hopes of higher yields and an earlier harvest.
Despite a week of having the fewest days suitable for fieldwork in a month, Minnesota farmers continue making progress in the harvest. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in the weekly Minnesota crop report only 5.3 days were suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sunday.
Minnesota farmers took advantage of ideal weather last week to double their progress in harvesting corn. According to the USDA's weekly crop report, Minnesota saw 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Excellent weather conditions over the Spring and Summer has farmers already hitting the fields for the fall harvest. Area farmers are preparing for what could be a record harvest.
