UNDATED -- The Minnesota DNR is asking anglers to practice "resource recycling" this fishing season.

DNR Central Minnesota Fisheries Manager Brad Parsons says "resource recycling" means handling catch-and-release fish with care.

Parsons says it's important to cut down on hook mortality so the fish have a chance to grow for future seasons.

Some tips include...setting the hook quickly, bringing the fish to the surface slowly, minimizing the time out of water by having a camera ready and reviving the fish by holding it under the belly and gently moving it back and forth in the water until it swims away.
