Community Celebrates Rocori Trail Grand Opening
COLD SPRING / RICHMOND - Community members gathered for the Grand Opening celebration for phase one of the Rocori Trail today (Tuesday).
The project began in 2004 and connects the communities of Richmond and Cold Spring.
Phase two of the project will connect the two communities with Rockville.
DNR Divsion of Parks and Trails director, Courtland Nelson says the state has about 2,500 miles of trails, and they are only half done.
Cold Spring Granite Wellness Committee chair, Dan Pfannenstein says the trail is a big opportunity for companies in the community to promote healthy living.
The new trail will eventually connect to Glacial Lakes State Trail. The DNR hopes to complete the second phase of the project by 2013.
