ST. CLOUD -- Clearview Elementary will become a Spanish "Magnet" School starting this fall, according to District 742 Communications Director Tami DeLand.

A magnet school is a public school which has a focused theme and curriculum aligned around a subject such as a foreign language. In a news release, DeLand says:

"Creating a Spanish Magnet at Clearview creates an opportunity to bridge the English and Immersion programs and provide opportunities for families."

Research says benefits of magnet schools include increased cognitive ability, gains in academic achievement, and increased self-esteem.

Clearview is hosting a Spanish Magnet Information Night on Monday, February 13th at 5:30 p.m., which is open to the public.
