Be honest: Do your kids get an hour of physical activity a day? Even on days when school isn't in session so they don't attend recess or gym class?

That's the amount of movement the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends for children ages 6-17, and it includes everything from taking a walk to climbing at the park and intense running. It can be structured activities, like sports or games, or just free playtime.

The CDC reports that less than a quarter of kids get that recommended amount, and lowered physical activity can be associated with weight gain and increased risk for related health concerns.

Here are some ways the CDC encourages more movement:

  • Be active yourself as a role model for your family.
  • Build activity into the family schedule. For example, skip the television after school or dinner and head outside for games, a family walk, bike riding, playtime with friends, or something similar.
  • Encourage your child to try new sports and physical activities and provide the appropriate safety equipment.
  • Go to community parks, pools, basketball courts, or other places where they can be active.

Another great option is AirMaxx Trampoline Park, which offers trampolines, trampoline dodgeball, ninja warrior courses, and virtual reality. They also have a Minni Maxxers court for children 5 and younger to jump with their parents.

Just think how much energy your kids could burn with trampoline dodgeball! All AirMaxx attractions are fun ways for kids to move more with friends, family, or independently — and they are accessible in poor weather! To learn more and plan your trip, visit airmaxxstcloud.com.
