Sartell Shooting Victim Dies, Suspect Jailed in St. Cloud [PHOTOS, VIDEO, AUDIO]
SARTELL -- A 20-year-old man shot in the chest outside a strip mall in Sartell has died from his injuries. Meanwhile, the man suspected of shooting him is jailed in St. Cloud.
A St. Cloud Hospital nursing supervisor says the victim -- who was shot in the chest around noon Thursday -- died late Thursday evening at the hospital. His name has not been released because not all of his relatives have yet been notified.
Police responded to a shooting call at the Sprint Store located at 1733 Pinecone Road South around noon Thursday. Police were told a male victim was brought to CentraCare Health Plaza in St. Cloud with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say the victim was taken by another driver from the Sprint Store to CentraCare. CentraCare officials say he was immediately taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital.
Police say a perimeter was set up in front and behind the Sprint Store on Pinecone Road and several businesses next to the store were evacuated. Officers entered the building to clear it and police say they found evidence of the shooting in the Sprint Store.
Investigators identified a male suspect from the shooting and arrested him at about 3:30 p.m. and took him to the Stearns County Jail. Police say because no charges have been officially filed, the suspect's name hasn't been released.
