Boy, 4, Shoots, Kills 2-Year-Old Brother In Mpls. — Update
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police say a 4-year-old boy playing with a gun apparently shot and killed his 2-year-old brother.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting in Minneapolis' Riverside neighborhood about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. When police arrived they found the 2-year-old with a critical gunshot wound. He died in an ambulance at the scene.
Police say the 4-year-old apparently had been playing with a handgun he had found in a bedroom when he accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother.
WCCO-AM reports the boys' parents were downstairs. A 1-year-old boy also was in the town house but a 5-year-old sibling was not home at the time.
Police say investigators are interviewing the parents but no arrests have been made. Police will turn the case over to the Hennepin County attorney's office after investigating.
