BNSF Says Cold, Not Freight Trains To Blame For Northstar Delays
ST. PAUL - B-N-S-F Railway officials are blaming the brutal cold for the recent delays on Northstar trains, not increased freight traffic on the shared tracks.
Assistant V-P Bryan Sweeney told a Minnesota House committee they have taken a number of steps to try and alleviate weather-related problems:
Sweeney says the long Northstar delays earlier this week were caused by a switch that burned out in St.Paul which resulted in a freight train backlog.
Sweeney says B-N-S-F will do what it can to restore confidence in reliable service.
