Amcon Block and Precast Sold to Twin Cities Area Company
ST. CLOUD - A St. Cloud concrete and masonry supplier has recently been sold.
Amcon Block and Precast has been sold to Cemstone, a slightly larger company that's based in Mendota Heights. John Pederson is the Director of Sales and Operations at Amcon, he says the acquisition will have no impact on local staffing at this time.
"Everybody is remaining on at this point and all the faces and names that our customers and vendors have gotten to know over the last 40 years are remaining the same."
Amcon Block will have its name changed to Amcon Concrete Products as part of the acquisition. Amcon was started by John's father David Pederson in St. Cloud back in 1977. Their plant moved to its current location on Highway 10 in 1979 and they started a showroom in the 90's.
Pederson says Cemstone started in 1927 and is also a family owned company.
"This acquisition of Amcon in St. Cloud and the name change really puts them as the market leader for building materials like concrete blocks, ready mix and aggregate products."
Pederson says he can't discuss finances or the terms of the sale at this time, but says the consolidation will put Amcon in a position to better serve their customers with updated equipment.
On September 1st, a letter was sent out to Amcon customers by Pederson. Part of the letter highlights their ongoing services.
"The staff at ACP is ready to serve you for another 40 years in the same manner you have come to know and trust," the letter says.
