A Frequent Name at the Ballot Box, Dick Franson Dies at 86
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A frequent presence on Minnesota's election ballots has died.
Dick Franson ran for U.S. Senate, governor and other statewide and local offices for a total of about 30 attempts. Franson died Wednesday after going through rehab for a concussion earlier this year. He was 86.
Franson promoted his military experience in Vietnam and Korea in his many campaigns. He most recently ran for secretary of state but lost in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor primary.
His nephew Kevin Brandt says Franson was a generous man who fought hard for what he believed in.
Franson's funeral service will be held on June 4. He is set to be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
