The MInnesota Wild traded a veteran defenseman and a favorite forward of Minnesota fans on Sunday at the NHL Draft.

The Wild traded a favorite in agitator Cal Clutterbuck when he was shipped to the New York Islanders in exchange for 2010's number five overall draft pick, Nino Niederreiter.

Niederreiter was made available after demanding a trade following a 2013 season in which he never played for the NHL's Islanders, just a year after playing in 56 games the year before.

Clutterbuck played five seasons for the Wild and became a fan favorite with his reckless, hard-hitting style of play. The forward had a down year in 2013 with only four goals.

The Wild are trying to save money as they look to re-sign forward Matt Cullen.

Defenseman Justin Falk was also traded to the New York Rangers for a sixth round draft pick and forward Benn Ferriero. Falk had 15 points in 108 career games with Minnesota. The 24-year old is a former fourth round pick.
