Weather Suspends Search For Missing Boater
DRESBACH, Minn. (AP) - Wintry weather has forced authorities to temporarily suspend the search for a boater who went missing on the Mississippi River in southeastern Minnesota.
Reports say Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says the search for 27-year-old Joshua Xiong of Onalaska, Wisconsin, is set to resume Wednesday morning.
Xiong left to go fishing late Saturday and went missing near Lock and Dam 7 in Dresbach. Authorities say a gas tank, life jacket and boat with significant damage were found nearby on Sunday. Authorities believe the boat went through a roller gate.
The sheriff says sonar and a robotic camera will be brought in Wednesday to continue the search.
Winona County will call for helicopters to search the area later this week if needed.
