Wall Street Protesters Can Camp in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota activists who plan to join thousands of people around the country demonstrating against Wall Street say they have permission to occupy the Hennepin County Government Center plaza.

The protesters met with Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek and Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan Wednesday about the group's plan to "occupy" the plaza beginning Friday. Organizer Todd Dahlstrom says they will not be required to get a permit and will be allowed to stay as long as laws are not broken.

Thousands of demonstrators have "occupied" Wall Street in New York in a protest against what they say is corporate greed. The protesters want politicians to pay more attention to average citizens.

Similar demonstrations have been staged across the country.
