Viking running back Adrian Peterson appears closer to being able to play Sunday when the Vikings host Jacksonville in their season opener.  Peterson has been listed as limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday but declared himself ready to play.  Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave says they are trying to determine the amount of touches Peterson will have if he plays.  AM 1500-ESPN is reporting that Peterson will get 5-10 touches Sunday.

Toby Gerhart is still expected to get the bulk of the carries at running back for the Vikings with Peterson getting backup carries.  The Vikings announced that Mistral Raymond will start opposite Harrison Smith at safety.  Raymond has been battling Jamarca Sanford for the starting safety spot.

The Vikings host Jacksonville at noon Sunday, pregame on WJON at 11am.  Minnesota is a 4-point favorite.
