MINNEAPOLIS -- No, not that Santana - the Minnesota Twins signed veteran starting pitcher Ervin Santana to a four-year $55 million contract.

The 31-year-old Santana spent last season with the Atlanta Braves, going 14-10 with a 3.95 ERA.

The 10-year veteran has gone 119-100 over the course of his career and has served as a capable "innings eater" - pitching over 200 innings in five of his years in the majors.

With Santana, the Twins deepen their starting pitching staff which finished at the bottom of the league in runs allowed.

Santana joins a staff that includes Phil Hughes, Ricky Nolasco, Kyle Gibson, and prospects Trevor May and Alex Meyer.
