This Date In Central Minnesota History: Jan. 31st And Feb. 1st, 1992

ST. CLOUD -- January 31^st (and Feb 1^st), 1992 – Scenes from the film “Mighty Ducks” were filmed at the Stearns County Courthouse in St. Cloud.

Emilio Estevez, along with a parcel of his co-stars, arrived in St. Cloud on January 31^st, 1992 for two days of filming scenes for the movie Mighty Ducks.

Producers looked at over 30 courthouses before picking Stearns County for this honor.   Producer Jordan Kerner called the courthouse “a jewel”, stating that he thought it was “the most beautiful courthouse in the area.”   These courtroom scenes open the movie, with the rest of the motion picture being filmed mostly in the Twin Cities.

Some county employees and area residence got to be extras in the scene.  Perhaps you know someone who is in the movie!

Estevez had dinner at Bravo Burrito while he was in town, and he was presented with a St. Cloud State Hockey jersey to commemorate his time here.
