After a string of college campus shootings shook the country earlier this month, local colleges are emphasizing being prepared for "active shooter" situations. Central Minnesota campuses are stressing emergency preparedness and mental health services following the shooting deaths of nine students at a community college in southern Oregon.

Senator Al Franken toured the health care training facilities at St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Friday.

St. Cloud Technical and Community College president Joyce Helens has signed a new three year contract with the school. Helens is now in her 10th year with the college. She says they've added several new programs over the last decade.

A fire training truck owned by the St. Cloud Technical and Community College was stolen on Monday morning. The college safety and security office says the truck was taken just after 5:15 a.m. at Customized Training Solutions at 1586 Whitney Court. The vehicle is a red Ford F-250 fire training truck.

The St. Cloud Technical and Community College is seeking $625,000 in state funds to expand and update three classrooms. The college will ask for legislative funding in January and would hope to receive the money next summer. The three classrooms used to be dental labs before the health and finances building was updated.

The St. Cloud Technical and Community College has announced the name of its new veterans' center. After public voting the center will be named the Homefront Resource Center, a center for service members, veterans and their families. The new center will be in the former CentraCare Heartland building.

Hundreds of car lovers came out to St. Cloud Technical and Community College Saturday for the school's 1st annual auto show that raises money for student Veterans.

The St. Cloud Technical and Community College carpentry program helped a local toy company finish hundreds of toys for less fortunate children this holiday season.
