A Sauk Rapids principal and his family are about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime. Pleasantview principal Nate Swenson has taken a one-year leave of absence from the district so he can be a principal at a middle school in Saudi Arabia.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice school district has settled the contract with it's teachers union. The school board approved the contract for this school year and next year at last (Monday) night's meeting.

A group of Sauk Rapids-Rice students took top honors at a cooking and restaurant competition. The Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation hosted the event in St. Paul.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice school district needs to trim nearly $760,000 from next year's budget. The cuts are necessary because voters in the district voted against a proposed operating levy last November.

Voters in the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district are being asked to go to the polls on November 8th. The district has put two operating levy questions on the ballot.

Enrollment is up for the St. Cloud metro area schools. For just the high schools, Sauk Rapid-Rice has passed Apollo making it the second largest high school in the metro behind Tech.

Operating levies will be the main topic of discussion at two area school board meetings tonight (Monday). Sartell-St. Stephen has a $1.2 million levy that's set to expire this year. Meanwhile, the Sauk Rapids-Rice school board will also vote tonight on whether to put a $938,000 operating levy on the November ballot.
