A familiar face will be taking over the leadership of the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district later this year. The school board has selected former District 742 Superintendent Bruce Watkins as the interim superintendent at Sauk Rapids-Rice.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Culinary Management team has won their tenth straight state title. After winning the state competition Thursday, they'll head to the national competition April 22nd through April 29th.

After two years of research and feedback by a community task force, the Sauk Rapids-Rice school board approved a bonding proposal, set to be voted on May 23rd.

At Monday's Sauk Rapids-Rice district meeting, the school board hopes to approve an $86.9 million dollar bonding proposal.

Three area teachers have been nominated for the 2017 Teacher of the Year award.

Five candidates have filed for the four open positions on the Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board. Incumbents Mark Hauck, Tracey Fiereck, Tracy Morse and Jan Solarz are all seeking re-election, with newcomer Ryan Butkowski rounding out the group.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm football team has a new coach for the first time in 17 seasons. Former coach Bill Magnuson announced his resignation in June after accepting an assistant coaching job with Pequot Lakes.

Sauk Rapids-Rice is looking for a new Activities Director after Luke Lutterman took a Principal job at Triton High School in southern Minnesota.

A community task force will recommend in June that the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District build a fourth elementary school and replace Pleasantview Elementary with a new building. Sauk Rapids-Rice is grappling with space concerns due to growing enrollment numbers (the district has grown by 800 students within the last six years).
