The Stearns County Parks Department will be holding two demonstrations tomorrow (Tuesday-today) so residents can get a look at the 100-year-old wooden Liberty Derrick.
We know it's a great place to swim, and now the rest of the country will too. Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in St. Cloud has recently been named one of the "Top 10 Swimming Holes In The United States" by the Travel Channel.
Quarry Park and Nature Preserve gave the public a rare opportunity to see its 100-year-old wooden Liberty Derrick. The Derrick was put into use as part of the Waite Park's Spas Tag Festival.
After nearly 38 years of developing parks and trails for Stearns County, Parks Director Chuck Wocken is calling it a career. Wocken will retire in February.
The 100-year old wooden Liberty Derrick will be will be on display this Sunday at the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve. You can watch the demonstrations at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. You'll also be able to check out the operation shack and talk to the staff.
If you see smoke coming from Stearns County Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in the coming weeks, don't be alarmed. The Stearns County Parks Department wants to alert you to a prescribed burn that will take place to restore 20 acres of the park back to its natural prairie land.
