ST. CLOUD - Authorities have released the man accused of shooting and killing Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Stearns County Sheriff's Office and Stearns County Attorney's Office have determined they don't have enough documented evidence to charge 34-year-old Ryan Larson at this time.

Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall says Larson can still be charged in the future....

Governor Mark Dayton, in Washington D-C today, calls the situation "very unfortunate" and says about the suspect...

The investigation is ongoing and charges could be filed in the future if the proper evidence is gathered.

Larson was released from the Stearns County Jail just before noon today.

Meanwhile, Larson says he was sleeping at the time and authorities have the wrong man.

Larson says authorities have no evidence against him.

It's not immediately clear if Larson has an attorney.
