ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud City council has voted to spend $30,000 to restore a 95-year-old statue of Abraham Lincoln.

The statue currently sits outside the Empire Apartment building along Fourth Avenue North.

After it's restored, the statue will move across the street near the River's Edge Convention Center, as part of the Beaver Islands Trail redevelopment project.

Money to pay for the reburbishing project will come from the half-cent sales tax dollars and some possible grant money.

The 1918 Lincoln statue was commissioned by then-mayor Peter Seberger.
