ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud City Council unanimously voted this evening (Monday) to approve an ordinance that would prohibit you from putting indoor furniture outdoors.

In 2011, the City Council amended Section 635:30 to allow for the use and placement of indoor furniture in the Central Business District.

The council conducted a study back in July 2013 that brought up an increasing concern of couches and chairs being put on porches, patios or yards.

The new ordinance will go into effect within all districts.

First offenders that have such furniture outside will receive a warning. A second offense would result in a $100 fine.  However, regulations will be in place for certain accommodations, such as placing furniture at the curb for garbage pick-up, or giveaway items.
