Sartell School Board Gets First Look At High School Field Designs
SARTELL -- The Sartell-St. Stephen school board got their first look at some outdoor athletic field upgrades at the high school.
Back in November, the district hired Design Tree Engineering to create the outdoor activity space, and presented those ideas to the board at Monday's meeting.

The plans called for two multi-purpose athletic fields with lighting, bleachers, scoreboard and press box to be used for high school sports, physical education classes and community activities.
The first field would be a grass soccer field with a track built around the field. There would also be room for pole vault pits, long-jump and throwing areas.
Next to the grass field would be a turf field to be used for soccer, lacrosse and football games and even section playoff games. These fields would mean students would be able to play their games at the high school instead of traveling to Riverview Intermediate School.
Total cost for the athletic fields is estimated at $4.5-million. The school district has about $1.4-million remaining from the original bond to construct the high school that would go toward the lighting and some bleachers.
Roughly $1.1-million would come from community fundraising efforts which would help cover the press box, scoreboard and remaining bleachers.
The remaining $2-million could possibly come from a potential lease levy, which means the owner of a $250,000 home would pay an additional $23 in taxes. Those funds would be for the track and turf.
No action was taken. The board will continue to look over the designs and funding options and will provide their input and direction at a future meeting.
