MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A St. Paul man has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for beating a man and causing his death seven months after the attack.

Thirty-year-old Terry Williams pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder and was sentenced Thursday for punching and stomping on the head of Lance Grant.

Williams attacked the 24-year-old man in November 2017 as he was leaving a store in downtown Minneapolis. Grant never regained consciousness and died the following June.

Grant's mother and younger sister gave victim impact statements and told the court that Grant never got to meet his daughter, who will turn 1-year-old on Saturday.
