UNDATED -- The Minnesota DNR is reminding ice fishermen the ice house removal deadline is next week for the southern half of the state.

Shelters south of a line that basically runs from Moorhead to Duluth need to be removed before the end of Monday, March 2nd. Fish houses north of that line must be removed by the end of the day Monday, March 16th.

The DNR says owners who don't remove shelters by the deadline face fines and the possibility of having the structures confiscated or destroyed by a conservation officer.

Anglers are also reminded to clean up all trash and belongings. Leaving garbage on the ice is considered littering.
