ST. PAUL  (AP) - A state senator from Hutchinson says an e-mail that said he wouldn't meet with his opponent's supporters was a mistake.

Last week, Republican Sen. Scott Newman turned down a request from the Minnesota Nurses Association to meet nurses from his district. His legislative assistant, Kim Kelley, wrote in an e-mail
to the group that Newman "will not see any organizations" that donated to or supported his Democratic opponent.

The MNA endorsed Newman's opponent.

Newman says the e-mail was an error that doesn't reflect the policy of his office. He says if the MNA wants to see him, they will see him.
