ST. CLOUD -- As snow hits parts of central Minnesota tonight (Tuesday) local stores are preparing for the winter rush.

Handyman Hardware in St. Cloud has been experiencing an increase in demand for shovels, salt, gloves and other winter preparedness products.

Owner, Doug Severson says the store has been preparing for the winter weather for about three weeks and has nearly 4,000 units of the product Ice Melt.

Severson suggests you don't forget to think about your pipes with freezing temperatures in the forecast.

Pipes exposed to the outdoors should be protected with heat tapes.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning through Wednesday.
