ST. AUGUSTA - Ten St. Cloud area soldiers will be armed with a new GPS unit, when they leave for Iraq on Friday.

The St. Augusta American Legion Post 621 donated the GPS units, with the help of Lowranz Electronics.  Lowranz spokesman Mike Schnettler says the units will be a valuable tool for the soldiers.

Captain Ryan Rassmann is the Company Commander for Delta Company based in St. Cloud.  He says they'll use their GPS units while providing convoy security, escorting troops and material between Iraq and Kuwait.

Betty Helget is the President of the St. Augusta American Legion Auxiliary.  She says they're accepting donations to buy more units, you can either stop at the Legion or call them for more information.  Call 252-6693 or their address is 1894 247th Avenue, St. Augusta, MN 56301

A deployment ceremony for the National Guard soldiers will be held at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at Bernick's Arena in Sartell.  They leave on Friday for two months of training at Fort McCoy, before heading to Iraq.
