FOLEY -- The Foley School District is reporting a small number of their students have come down with Viral Meningitis.

Foley Superintendent, Darin Strosahl posted a health update on the district's website today (Wednesday) that three students have been infected with the illness.

According to the post the district has been in contact with the state epidemiologist who says parents are not required to be notified because of the low risk of an outbreak.

Strosahl wrote there is a big difference between Viral Meningitis and Bacterial Meningitis.The district stresses that the the three cases reported are *not* bacterial.

Students are encouraged to practice good hand washing procedures, cough into an elbow and not share water bottles or cups.

According to the post, the school will continue with their regular cleaning practices.
