FOLEY -- Benton County Deputies will continue to patrol the streets of Foley, at least for now.

During last (Tuesday) night's council meeting the council approved a contract with the county to run through June 30th.  It still has to be approved by the county commissioners.  The old contract was set to run out at midnight this (Wednesday) morning.

Interim City Administer Sarah Brunn says this gives them time to consider other options, including possibly using a security service for some of their policing services.

The county and the city have had a joint agreement since 2004, which costs the city about $300,000 a year.  They're trying to find ways to reduce their policing costs due to cuts to LGA.
