Firefighter Collapses In Glenwood Fire Hall

GLENWOOD  (AP) — A 23-year-old firefighter collapsed and died after going to his fire hall in Glenwood to exercise.

Police Chief Dale Danter says local firefighter Matthew Chan died Monday evening after he arrived at the fire hall to use the weight room.

The official cause of death hasn't been determined, but Danter says there's nothing suspicious about it and there were no signs of trauma suggesting some sort of accident.

Police were called to the building at about 6:45 p.m. after Chan was found unresponsive and not breathing.

Chan was taken to Glacier Ridge Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
