EagleCam Captures The Lives Of Three New Eaglets
Last week, we checked in on the Minnesota DNR EagleCam and discovered that our eagle and her mate did indeed have at least one eaglet in their nest.
We have now learned that there are three eaglets in the nest!
CONFIRMATION FROM THE MINNESOTA DNR
EagleCam watchers alerted the Minnesota DNR that they had been watching the Eagles, and many people informed them that they believed there were at least three eaglets in the nest.
The Minnesota DNR confirmed that, indeed, YES! It's true! The three eaglets are in the nest, and the confirmation was made on March 30th.
EAGLE FACTS
According to the Minnesota DNR, three eggs is the maximum that bald eagles lay per season. No more chicks are expected to come along. Now we all hope that the eagles will care for all three until they are ready to fly.

THREE LITTLE BUNDLES OF JOY
The eaglets are super tiny compared to their parents when they are born, and they are completely helpless, so the eagle parents are very tentative.
Most of the time, the male eagle does most of the hunting, while mom keeps the kids warm and protected for these first couple of weeks. After that, they take turns more frequently.

THEY GROW UP SO FAST
Expect these little eagles to grow pretty fast. Although they weigh only about 3 ounces right now, they will grow to 2-3 pounds in 21 days.
Then we can expect them to learn to walk around the nest, build up some strength, start flapping those wings, shed that fluffy down, and then we should see them leaving the nest when they are about 3 months old.

Every year, there are twists and turns that our eagle family has to overcome. We are hoping that this year, all three chicks will fly from the nest, but you have to remember, this is nature, and a lot can happen in the next three months.
