FREEPORT -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation is holding a meeting to discuss the experimental fishing regulations on Big Birch Lake near Grey Eagle.

The meeting will be held at Linda B's restaurant in Freeport on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The DNR has had a northern pike slot limit of 24-36 inches, with one fish over 36 inches allowed and a daily bag limit of three fish since 2005. There had been a 24-inch maximum length limit prior to that.

The DNR says since the slot limits, the northern pike numbers have significantly improved.

The meeting will discuss whether to continue the regulations, modify them or drop them.
