UNDATED -- The DNR wants to remind ice anglers that the ice house removal deadline is fast approaching.

Ice houses in the southern two-thirds of the state must be removed before midnight on March 3rd. The line for the southern two-thirds stretches from Moorhead east to Park Rapids and over to Duluth.

Ice houses above that line have until March 17th to remove the ice houses.

Some conservation officers are reporting anglers removing ice houses already because of slow fishing, cold weather and difficult conditions. Many of the ice houses are frozen solid and have to be chiseled and pried from the ice.
