COON RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) - The Costco store in Coon Rapids has recalled a batch of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the product subject to recall is 383 units of 88 percent lean fresh ground beef. It bears the Costco item number 33724 under the Costco label. This product was sold directly to 342 consumers at the Costco store in Coon Rapids between Sept. 4 and Sept. 7.

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service says one illness has been linked to the product, a Minnesotan who became sick in late September.

The federal agency and Costco fear some of the ground beef may still be frozen and sitting in consumers' freezers. Costco has already taken steps to contact customers who purchased the product.
