ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud residents gave input on Tuesday morning for the planned Community Aquatics Center.

The workshop started with a review of the center site plans. Community members then had an opportunity to give feedback on the building design and programming being considered.

Brad Kremer attended the meeting and says he's satisfied with the proposed designs.

Dan Eckberg was also at the meeting, he would like to see more swimming pool features, but is happy with process and design.

Most of the community feedback was positive at the meeting. Some citizens also expressed concerns for future maintenance costs and a lack of certain amenities.

The designs say the facility would include a lap pool as well as a family swimming pool. They also want to build three gyms, and a multi-use space. They also want to leave room to add a possible future outdoor aquatic area.

There will be another open house on the St. Cloud Community Aquatics Center on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Whitney Center.

The timeline right now is hoping to break ground by this October, with the facility opening in March of 2017.

The total cost is estimated to be about $27 million, with $14 million coming from the half-cent sales tax. The YMCA, which is partnering on the project and will run the facility, is raising the rest of the money.
