Some cars became stalled in St. Cloud as heavy rains caused street flooding in parts of the city. St. Cloud police Sgt. Lloyd Orth says officers had to deal with about 15 vehicles that stalled in high water Tuesday.

Heavy rains caused street flooding across the St. Cloud metro area this afternoon. St. Cloud Police advised people to avoid several areas because of street flooding. Details and pictures after the jump.

A flood watch remains in effect through tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. Counties in the watch include: Kandiyohi, Meeker, Stearns, Todd, and Douglas.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of our listening area. Rainfall totals of three to four inches will be possible. Watch for widespread flooding in streams, creeks, and rivers.

This has been a strange weather week in Central Minnesota. After a record high of 101 degrees on Tuesday, we're now struggling to get out of the 50s.

Today (Tuesday) is our warmest day in several years. The official temperature at the St. Cloud Regional Airport hit 100 degrees at 3:00 p.m. this (Tuesday) afternoon. That breaks the old record for this date, which was 96-degrees set in 2004.

A warm front lifting north across the area today (Thursday) will bring with it a return to more summer-like temperatures. Widely scattered thunderstorms will move across the area this afternoon, with a small chance for severe weather overnight across parts of central Minnesota as activity moves out of the Dakotas and into northwest Minnesota.

The official weather summary from St. Cloud State University shows we had measurable rainfall on 15 of the 31 days in the month -- that's the most number of rainy May days since 1993.

Strong storms Monday night knocked out power to an estimated 26,000 people in the Fargo area, along with hundreds more in rural areas.
