The University of Minnesota men's basketball team beat #24 Purdue 71-68 Thursday afternoon at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The win improves the Gophers to 13-7 on the season.

The Gopher men's basketball team lost 76-72 at Rutgers Thursday night to drop to 4-7 in the Big Ten and 11-7 overall. He says they had been sitting in a great position after their home win over Michigan in January.

The Minnesota Wild improved to 5-3 with a 5-3 win over the L.A. Kings Thursday night. Marcus Johansson scored a goal and added an assist on the Kirill Kaprizov goal. Gopher head football coach P.J. Fleck has reported as a candidate for the vacant head football coaching job at the University of Tennessee. He says it is possible that Fleck is a candidate there but he thinks Flecks wants to stay in the mid-west and may likes the idea of not having the pressure that would come with a job like Tennessee.
