ST. CLOUD - The Boy Scouts of Central Minnesota have officially notified the United States Navy's Blue Angels flight demo team and told them they're not interested in hosting an air show in St. Cloud in 2015.

Scout Director David Trehey says they sent the Blue Angels their note of cancellation this (Thursday) afternoon.  He says he hasn't heard back from them yet, but he anticipates they will.

On Monday the Blue Angels announced their 2015 schedule, which included a two-day performance at the St. Cloud Regional Airport on July 4th and 5th.

Trehey says several months ago they filed their application for the Blue Angels to be a part of an air show here in St. Cloud in 2015.  But, when they suggested the July 4th and 5th dates, the Boy Scouts declined, because they weren't in a position to host an air show on such a busy weekend.  He says he was surprised when the announcement was made this week that St. Cloud was still on the list.

Trehey says the Blue Angels require a local host organization in order for them to come to a city, so with the Boy Scouts pulling out it would be impossible for them to keep their dates here.

Trehey says the Boy Scouts would love to have another opportunity to bring the Blue Angels to St. Cloud, and that the area would support an another air show, but that probably would happen now until the year 2016 or 2017.
