Bernick’s Donates $500K To Aquatic Center Project
ST. CLOUD - Another half-million dollars has been collected for the planned new St. Cloud Area YMCA Aquatics and Community Center. Bernick's has announced it is donating $500,000 to the project. It's the largest gift Bernick's has donated to any single project.
With this donation, more than $15.5 million has been raised so far, including the $10 million already collected from the St. Cloud half-cent sales tax.
The new facility near Whitney Park is estimated to cost $27 million.
St. Cloud metro area cities would also commit another combined $4 million to the project, if the half-cent sales tax extension is approved next month.
The St. Cloud Area Y and the city of St. Cloud have partnered with Hagemeister and Mack Architects for more specific designs and details. A plan is expected to be unveiled later this year.
