MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) - One man has died and another is injured after a shooting outside a liquor store at a busy Maplewood strip mall.

Police say the shooting happened about 8:40 p.m. Saturday in front of Merwin Liquors on Rice Street.

Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell says the victims exchanged words with people in a car before they went into the store. When the men came out, shots were fired from the car.

One man died at Regions Hospital. The other was hit in the leg and is expected to survive. Their names were not released.

The suspects fled and police were searching for a white Honda Accord. Police don't know what prompted the shooting.
