HAMMOCK DEATH -- A Big Lake 5-year-old boy, dead after the hammock he was playing on uprooted the 7-foot tree it was tied to. The tree fell, hitting Edward Michalek in the head, killing him.

 

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING -- Several officers are paid administrative leave while the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates the shooting of a suspect in west St. Cloud Monday night. Officers -- investigating an assault -- went to a home in the 7000 block of Northwood Lane. The armed suspect broke a window in the back of the house and ran. A deputy fired and the suspect was wounded. No names released yet.

 

HIGHWAY 23 ROLLOVER -- Two people hurt when a merging SUV swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle, overcorrected and rolled. 18-year-old Mohamed Ahmed and 22-year-old Johnathon Claeys -- taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

METH IN CAR -- A jury finds 38-year-old Ronald Schlangen of St. Cloud guilty of drug charges. Schlangen arrested in February when police found 4-and-a-half ounces of methamphetamine as well as cash in his vehicle. Could be sentenced to a dozen years in prison.

 

64-MILE CHASE -- A Dassel man, arrested after leading police on a 64-mile chase Monday night. Started in the Waite Park Cash Wise parking lot and ended after police used stop-sticks and the PIT maneuver to stop his car.

 

REFUGEE MORATORIUM -- St. Cloud city councilman Jeff Johnson, planning to ask the city for a moratorium on refugee resettlement until the city gets more info on the number of people moving here and the cost to taxpayers. Other council members say Johnson's off-base -- and it's a federal issue, not a city issue.

 

ROAD CLOSED -- Utility work at the building site of the new Tech High School will close 33rd Street South for a few days. Extending utilties to the site. Detours posted.

 

SHERBURNE COUNTY REBRANDING -- A new look for Sherburne County. A new logo, an updated website and better social media presence.
